Sundance Books and the Geneseo Campus Store are located at 2 School Street. Inside ,the Campus Store is located on the top floor and is loaded with the items you will need for your Art classes as well as school and dorm supplies. Down the stairs at the Textbook counter our staff is familiar with all required textbook titles. Students need only provide us with their schedule when they come to pick up their books. The Sundance staff will retrieve the books required for the student's schedule from our warehouse. Counter service ensures that every student gets the books they need and eliminates the hassle of trying to find books in a confusion of stacks of books.
Why should I shop at Sundance?Sundance is committed to having the best priced textbooks available in Geneseo. We fill our inventory from at least 4 national used book wholesalers including Follett, we also buyback books everyday and use them to resell to Geneseo students as well. We are a local merchant with local ties and community interests. Our lines are short and we make your visit worthwhile. Most of our staff has or is currently attending Geneseo.
What if I buy a book and don't want it?The college allows students to drop and add courses from their schedule until the end of the first week of classes. Naturally the textbooks required will change if a student changes their course schedule. Sundance accepts returns until the date posted in our store each semester. This period is sufficient for students to change their class schedule and then get the books they need and return those they do not need. As with any retail business Sundance requires the original receipt of sale for returns and any new books must still be in saleable condition.
What happens at the end of the Semeseter?Sundance buys back books from students at the end of the semester. The price we can pay varies with the demand for each book. Titles that are ordered for the next semester will be bought for ½ of the purchase price. Not all titles are ordered for the next semester so the buying guide prices from national wholesale companies are used. If wholesale companies experience great demand for a book they are willing to pay more for it. The national wholesale market fluctuates a lot but Sundance always offers the student the highest amount that a wholesaler will pay for a title. Some titles are re-issued in a new edition and unfortunately there is no demand for the old edition. Such books cannot be bought back. Students are not required to sell their books. Many students keep books from their major as reference texts for future classes.
What about buying books online ?Though many textbooks are available from Internet retailers or web-based auction sites most students find the convenience of one stop shopping offsets any potential savings. Sundance offers both the convenience of online shopping and local service. Once our inventory is ready, usually around August 1, we will offer books for sale through this website. Students can choose the books they want to purchase and pay for them online. Once you get to Geneseo just stop in the Textbook Outlet and pick them up. Online retailers usually do not provide simple returns policies. Walking your books back to Sundance is quick and painless whereas paying to ship books back can turn into a big hassle. Most students at Geneseo feel customer service with real people in a real building has a greater value than the potential savings made by buying books online.
What else ?If students or their family have questions about the textbook experience outside the scope of the information here please have them contact us. We are open 8-5 Mon-Fri if they wish to stop in. Our contact information is listed on this website. Please don't hesitate to contact us.
